So, I'm sure that a lot of you have heard about the recent ban on pit bulls in Denver, Colorado. Personally, I find this ban to be outrageous and downright cruel to both the owners and the dogs.
"A pit bull is defined as any dog that is an American Pit Bull Terrier, an American Staffordshire Terrier, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, or any dog displaying the majority of physical traits of any one or more of these breeds." Dogs that are not removed from the city of Denver within thirty days will be ceased and destroyed by means of euthenasia. So, you have four choices: 1.) Keep your dog(s) and move to another city. <--- I'd do it if it meant keeping my dog(s). 2.) Hide your dog(s) from the authorities. 3.) Send your dog(s) to a shelter outside of Denver and hope that he/she/they get adopted. 4.) Have you dog(s) taken away and killed. I actually broke down and started crying (close to) hysterically when I was researching the recent pit bull ban. I don't cry easily either. But imagine policemen knocking on your door one morning and telling you that you need to get rid of your beloved pet within thirty days. Seriously. Take a minute and really think about it. Can you imagine living without your dog? Your cat? Bird? Snake? Rat? Any of your pets. I can't imagine someone taking my animals away from me. So, why not ban people from raising their dogs poorly? Just because they banned pit bulls, do they think that there aren't going to be any more dog attacks? It's not just pit bulls that attack people for some reason or another. There is always a chance that a dog will bite someone - No matter what breed of dog they are. Now tell me... What are they going to do about the people? The people who mistreated their dog and abandoned it. The people who trained their dog to fight. The people who trained their dog to hate. What will they do about them? I found this blog about the recent ban. It's very interesting and informative. Take a look if you want to know more... [link] Feel free to comment and talk about your opinions on the ban. And to all those who have lost their dogs to this ban, I'm very sorry. XOXO's, Emily |

I never cried over this but I do think it is completely... stupid and wrong.

I just thought about something while I was reading those sites... this is almost like telling everyone in one city that one certain race of people must move out immediatly or they will be locked up and put to death row... now how awful is that?

If everyone in Colorado wasn't such a pussy, they would all just move or refuse to get rid of their dogs. I seriously think this is just WAY too much. Thank god Florida has a law against banning animals... even though the Dade county/Miami area has already banned pit bulls before the law was made...
